SUP Kick Start

Available in Burnaby*, Vancouver* & White Rock

This 90min-2 hour lesson will not only show you why being on the water on the west coast is magical – but we will teach you ALL the basic skills you need to continue to explore and join us on future excursions.

Our Paddle Canada certified instructors will share their knowledge and passion for the waters with you. This session will include an on-land safety talk, a thorough breakdown of equipment and its uses followed by an understanding of tides, and weather for your area. Then you will take to the water and continue your learning and tour of the area soaking in nature and knowledge.

SUP Kick Start is the first step in our programming where you will learn all you need to access calm waters and feel comfortable making smart decisions for your skill level at this stage.  It is the recommended step to take prior to ANY and all other SUP lessons and adventures with us – this will set you up for the most success and understanding of your level and experience for future paddling adventures.

*Equipment can be provided, please reach out in advance if you need rentals.

SUP Explore More Pass

Available in Burnaby* & Vancouver*

Continue to build on your decision-making, reading tides/winds and your on-water skills by joining our ‘Explore More’ classes. Each class will be customized to your skills and your instructor will ensure you have key techniques to work on while exploring the waters of the lower mainland with like-minded water-people. These sessions will have a minimum of 2 and a max of 6 paddlers.

All Mermaids & Mermen are welcome so long as you have already taken your SUP Kick Start or have confirmed with our staff you have equivalent knowledge & experience.

Paddle Canada SUP Basics skill course with Stand Up Paddle Vancouver, or another Paddle Canada Instructor in the area would be equivalent to our SUP Kick Start.

*Locations will vary.  Your Explore More session can be purchased as a single session OR save by purchasing 4 sessions upfront and booking in based on your schedule.

SUP Sunset to Moonrise

Available in White Rock

Join us for a magical evening on the water where we gather to watch the sunset and the moonrise. Our certified Paddle Canada Instructors will share their key safety tips for accessing the water at this magical hour – what is needed and how to stay safe when paddling in the dark.

Then join us as we venture into the beauty and share full moon insights and a short guided meditation (sometimes a moving meditation) Purchase a 4 pack of sessions and register for 4 of our 5 SUP Sunset to moonrise paddles in White Rock.

SUP Yoga

SUP Yoga Vancouver has combined Stand Up Paddling with Yoga to teach you to breathe, move and be present not only on the water but in your everyday. SUP Yoga will tone your core, build your stability and provide you with a fun learning environment to play and have fun with your practice outside the studio.

SUP Yoga classes will include on land Yoga teachings to prepare you to take your sequence of postures onto the water. On the water we will flow and move while floating and enjoying all the elements of the wilderness and landscapes from snowy mountain tops to beautiful ocean sunsets.

SUP Yoga Level 1

Level 1 SUPYoga is our starting point for this unique practice and is a beginner-friendly class that combines yoga with paddleboarding, perfect for those new to either.

Prerequisite: Our SUP Kickstart or equivalent paddling experience. If you are new to our programs, expect us to reach out, or contact us with any questions!

What to Expect
Land Portion: Setup assistance, paddle basics, and SUP safety tips.

On-Water Portion:  Support paddling to location, help anchoring and a class focused on balance and foundational yoga poses while anchored and the art of mindfulness while on our boards and doing Yoga.   Each class will focus on the foundation pose and will run in calm conditions.

Benefits of SUPYoga Level 1
Stability: Builds balance and core strength through controlled movements. Mindfulness: Enhances your connection to nature and the present moment. Confidence: Helps you get comfortable with Supyoga and paddleboarding at your own pace.

Support: Instructors provide immediate guidance throughout the class.

This class is perfect for those looking to improve balance and enjoy the calming effects of water and nature while challenging themselves with SUPYoga!

*Level 1 SUPYoga is a required pre-req for Level 2! All participants wanting to attend Level  2 will need to complete a minimum of 4 – Level 1 classes and/or meet the criteria for advancement.

SUP Yoga Level 2

This class is for our long-term & advanced SUPYogi’s! All participants must complete our 4-class minimum Level 1 SUP Yoga or meet the criteria to participate *contact us prior to registering if unsure.

This class moves at a more advanced pace with a dynamic flow and pose session that combines yoga with paddleboarding with lots of variety each week.

What to Expect
Land Portion: Brief Check-in and Gear Check

On-Water Portion:  SUP Paddling Skills Drills & Warm up and then Self Anchoring. The SUPoga portion of class will focus on balance and build upon foundational yoga poses while anchored and the art of mindfulness while on our boards doing yoga.

Benefits of SUPYoga Level 2
Stability: Builds balance and core strength through movements with a variety of foundational and challenging poses while building flexibility in dynamic water conditions. When possible, time for meditation and connection to nature and the present moment.

Confidence: Practice all foundational poses while adding in options for more advanced ones, building on each class week after week.
Support: Instructors provide immediate guidance throughout the class and will create fun and challenging sequences each week.

*This class is for our long-term participants and those looking to maintain and build on the balance and enjoyment of the calming effects of water and nature, but also challenge their Leve1 foundation and build strength and core stability.

*All participants wanting to attend Level  2 will need to complete 4 – Level 1 classes and/or meet the criteria for advancement.

SUP Yoga

Move and be moved at sunset… take your yoga to the water and immerse yourself in the beauty while working to strengthen your mind, body and spirit. This fully guided 75-minute class will leave you feeling relaxed and melt the daily stress away.

Classes take place at West Beach in White Rock.

*BYOGear: board, paddle, PFD, whistle & leash – unless otherwise arranged.

SUP Kick start or equivalent skills are required to attend this class.

Paddle Canada SUP Skills Courses & Clinics

Flatwater SUP Basics – similar to our SUP Kick Start session this 2-hour course will include the complete SUP Basics as outlined by Paddle Canada. The focus of this course is to provide the participants with the knowledge, safety and skills to access the water confidently on their own and/or choose when and where to go out to the level of their ability.

In this course, students will learn skills to read the weather and water conditions to suit their ability, awareness of what is required by law and what is recommended safety equipment when paddling solo or in a group and on-water skills to access and navigate flatwater conditions.

Flatwater SUP Advanced – This 2-hour course will include the next level of stand-up paddle skills on the water preparing to access more dynamic waters, expanding on the SUP Basic Course students will also learn methods of towing, and rescues in addition to a wide variety of skills to navigate waters that suit their level of ability.

Participants in this course should be comfortable performing basic maneuvers and ready to move their feet and expand their skills to prepare for future SUP courses in Surf, River and Navigation.
